What must you do?
The Telemarketing Do Not call List obligations are fairly simple.
Business to Business
The Do not call list does not apply to business to business calls
Domestic, Residential and Private Calls
The basic premise is that you cannot make a telemarketing call to people at home or on their mobile phone unless:
- The client has given you permission to call them. If the client has given you permission to call them, you should try to keep records of that permission.
- You have “washed” or “scrubbed” the phone numbers to ensure the client is not registered on the Do Not call List prior to calling.
I have included 3 links below. Follow them to get information on the Do Not Call List or equivalent in your area.

If you purchase lists of leads from list brokers you can buy washed or scrubbed lists. Alternately you will need to follow the process yourself. There are very large fines attached to ignoring the Do Not Call List, so make sure you look up the relevant information for your area before you start your telemarketing campaign.
